DESCRIPTION:The Human Rights Council will hold its 55th regular session from February 26 to April 5\, in Geneva. According to its agenda\, the Council will hear the annual report of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights as well as other reports by the OHCHR\, Secretary-General\, and special procedure mandate holders on specific countries and topics. The Council will consider and adopt the final outcomes of the Universal Periodic Review of Azerbaijan\, Bangladesh\, Burkina Faso\, Cabo Verde\, Cameroon\, Canada\, Colombia\, Cuba\, Djibouti\, Germany\, Russia\, Turkmenistan\, Tuvalu\, and Uzbekistan.

DESCRIPTION:The Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) is holding its 194th Period of Sessions from November 10 to 21. The 194th Period of Sessions will include two thematic regional hearings which will take place at the University of Miami\, Florida\, United States. The first of these thematic hearings will take place on November 18 and will “focus on the challenges posed by the recruitment of children and adolescents by organized crime in the region.” The second thematic hearing will take place on November 21 and will focus on “the role of fiscal and economic policy in combating poverty and structural inequality in the Americas.” The deadline for registering to participate in these two hearings has passed. However\, those not selected to speak are still encouraged to submit relevant written documentation and information on the topics to be discussed. \nThe IACHR will also host a meeting with representatives of civil society on November 18\, also in Miami. This meeting does not have a specific theme. Its objective is to create a space for open dialogue between the Commission and members of civil society. The meeting will be conducted in Spanish. Those wishing to participate must register through the electronic form available in Spanish and English by November 10\, 2025\, at 11:59 p.m. (Washington\, D.C. time). According to the Commission’s website\, persons unable to register through the electronic form will have the opportunity to do so in person on site.

According to the NGO Information Note\, any civil society organizations wanting to attend the Session must register by November 3. All public meetings of the Committee are also generally webcast live at http://webtv.un.org/. During this session\, the Committee will consider reports from Buundi\, Guatemala\, Maldives\, New Zealand\, Sweden and Tunisia; lists of issues prior to reporting for Laos\, Japan\, Panama and Tonga; and the need for urgent action procedures or early warning measures. An annotated provisional agenda is now available on the session page. \nThe Committee will also hold informal meetings and lunchtime briefings with NGO representatives who have submitted written contributions.
